Austin Slater is heading to the New York Yankees, giving them another right-handed bat they can plug into a part-time role down the stretch.

Arriving from Chicago, Slater was placed on the Yankees' active roster about an hour before Wednesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays, with lefty-hitting catcher-first baseman J.C. Escarra optioned to Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Even after acquiring right-handed infielder Amed Rosario, the Yankees were still searching for a RHH outfielder to bolster their depth.
