Canada’s New Democratic Party issued its declaration moments before Prime Minister Trudeau was set to reveal a revamped cabinet.

The head of a Canadian political party that has been keeping Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in power said on Friday he would present a motion of no-confidence in the government next year. New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh made the commitment in an open letter.

The NDP has helped prop up Justin Trudeau's minority government, but has pulled its support amid his sinking popularity.

The funding is designed to bolster security infrastructure, including the installation of advanced technology, and the hiring of additional personnel.

Canada has agreed to spend $1.3 billion to tighten security along its border with the United States. The announcement this week came after President-elect Donald Trump threatened 25 percent tariffs on Canadian goods coming into the U.
