DALLAS -- Casey DeSmith made 25 saves in his debut for the Dallas Stars, who defeated the Seattle Kraken 2-0 at American Airlines Center on Sunday. DeSmith signed a three-year, $3 million contract ($1 million average annual value) with the Stars on July 1.

Sam Steel and Wyatt Johnston scored 14 seconds apart late in the first period, Casey DeSmith made 25 saves for his 11th career shutout in his Dallas debut and the Stars beat the Seattle Kraken 2-0.

Matt Duchene was able to slide a puck across the crease to Mason Marchment who hit the post from in tight for the first high danger chance of the game. In similar fashion, at the 16:17 mark, Colin Blackwell made a cross-crease pass and Sam Steel jammed it in to put the Stars ahead 1-0.
