At 6:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued in east-central Wake, northeastern Johnston, Nash, and eastern Franklin counties. It came a minute after the NWS said a severe thunderstorm was located in Elm City, eight miles south of Nashville, moving northeast at 50 m.p.h.

A flash flood emergency has been issued for parts of northwestern Maryland on Tuesday, where severe flooding led to the evacuation of two elementary schools.

Intense rainfall had caused rivers to flood in several states of the United States.As reported by NBC, a 12-year-old has been swept away in Virginia, while rescuers in Maryland used boats to help evacuate elementary school students.
