The No. 22 Houston Cougars football program hopes to reach the CFB dwindle after the Week 10 upset loss to WVU.
Led by the team’s fourth different starting quarterback of the season, true freshman Scotty Fox, the Mountaineers were able to pull off the 45-35 upset. Fox completed 13-of-22 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 65 yards and two more scores.
While the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Fla., could also be an option, school officials favor a bowl close to home that would allow fans to attend the game. The only other could be the Alamo Bowl, held Dec. 30 in San Antonio. Of course, the Cougars (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) could be in line for a bigger postseason destination if they continue to win.
Cougars strength and conditioning coach Kurt Hester died on Oct. 25, just a few hours before Houston 's 24-16 win over No. 25 Arizona State. Hester was battling Stage IV melanoma, a fight that was featured on ESPN's "College GameDay" earlier this season.
Houston Cougars head coach Willie Fritz celebrated a big win in style, but it's far from a new celebration for him.
West Virginia football earns a huge win vs. Houston and accomplishes a feat that fans had not witnessed in a long time
