Fire crews from Ventura and Los Angeles counties are battling a rapidly growing vegetation fire in Holser Canyon, near Lake Piru, in 100-degree heat. The blaze, called the Canyon Fire, is estimated to be at 600 acres.

The Canyon fire has grown to roughly 1,051 burned acres near Val Verde, straddling Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to Watch Duty. Officials also issued less-severe evacuation warnings for parts of the area.

The so-called Canyon Fire erupted just before 1:30 p.m. southeast of Lake Piru in Ventura County, near the border of LA County. It is burning towards Santa Clarita. It has burned 1,052 acres and is 0% contained. The fire quickly spread, prompting evacuations in Ventura County and some areas of Santa Clarita.
