As several southern states continue to be lashed by heavy rainfall, the respective state governments have instructed the district officials to announce school holidays. Parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have been reeling under heavy showers for a few days now.

As some places are likely to receive rainfall in excess of 20 centimetres and this may result in flash floods, CM Naidu asked the officials to remain on alert. He directed them to take all precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property.
