Gov. Josh Stein called President Donald Trump's visit to North Carolina on Friday, Jan. 24, "very good news for the people of Western North Carolina."

During his inaugural address on Monday, Trump spoke about how Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc upon rural areas of the Tar Heel State in late September.

Governor Josh Stein confirmed the president's trip during his winter weather briefing Tuesday afternoon. He called it "very good news.”

President Donald Trump, with 16 visits last year en route to the White House, is returning to North Carolina on Friday for the first time since winning the Nov. 5 election. He told reporters on Tuesday that his weekend trip will begin in the Tarheel State and proceed to California and Nevada.
