Car crashes into hydrant in Van Nuys; water pushes vehicle into the air
After a car crashed into a fire hydrant in Van Nuys, it was sent into the air by the impact of water rushing out from the broken hydrant. The incident was reported as a rollover crash into a fire hydrant at 12:56 p.
The crash happened Friday at around 5:50 p.m. near Van Nuys Boulevard and Glenoaks Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Pilots who regularly fly in and around Hollywood Burbank airport said its proximity to Van Nuys airport makes it particularly vulnerable to a midair collision. Some worry enough hasn't been done to mitigate crossover between aircraft in the area.
