Virginia state Senate Democrats passed their redistricting constitutional amendment Friday, putting the party one step closer to redrawing the Old Dominion’s congressional lines. Democrats in the upper chamber passed a constitutional amendment for a second time that would allow lawmakers to redraw Virginia’s House map and temporarily bypass the state’s redistricting commission.
Voters will now get a say over whether the current maps can be redrawn ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
