After losing two games in a row against two of the best teams in the country, Michigan State's bye week could not have come at a better time. The Spartans made good use of their time off.

Riding a three-game losing streak, Michigan State’s football team used last week’s bye to their advantage. The Spartans defeated Iowa, 32-20, at home to improve to 4-3 on the season. Quarterback Aidan Chiles finished with 256 passing yards and one touchdown pass in the win,

This was the signature win of Jonathan Smith's brief time as Michigan State's head coach but there won't be a long celebration.
