Warming centers open in SE Texas due to freezing temperatures
As temperatures plunge to dangerous levels, Houston and Fort Bend County are some of the areas with open locations to provide a warm place to stay.
Here’s where you can get warm in the D-FW area as temps drop below freezing in coming days
Garland Overnight Warming Station, or GLOWS, which operates out of the Salvation Army located at 435 S. Fifth St. in Garland, opened Sunday evening. “GLOWS provides safe, temporary overnight shelter to our unhoused friends during extremely cold weather in the winter time,” the organization’s website said.
Houston Opens Area Warming Centers Amid Winter Storm
In preparation for another round of cold weather, Houston opened 10 warming centers Sunday night with some Harris County precincts and Fort Bend County officials also announcing warming centers.
