Crews at Jackson EMC have loaded their trucks and are ready to roll out to repair any powerlines, poles or transformers damaged by the winter storm that will hit north Georgia starting Friday morning.

Winter Storm Blair knocked out utilities for hundreds of thousands of customers across the U.S., leaving many American households in the dark Monday. More than 300,000 electric customers were without power as of late Monday morning, led by the state of Virginia where nearly 110,000 customers are without power, according to PowerOutage.us.

Several portions of Texas are expecting winter weather as Winter Storm Cora moves across the state. Areas in Central Texas could see a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow between Thursday and Friday,

North Texas saw snow and sleet starting Thursday, and with that came power outages. Oncor’s outage tracking website states its teams and resources are monitoring weather conditions and are ready to respond to outages.

As snow, freezing rain and sleet make their way through North Texas this Thursday and early Friday during the winter storm, most schools and offices are closing their doors, but many other services will remain open.
