Joseph’s selection ends city’s hushed search for a new department leader after the departure of Anthony Mata in April.

The San Jose Police Department's search for a new police chief has ended with the promotion of Acting Police Chief Paul Joseph to the full-time position.

Joseph had served as acting chief of the San Jose Police Department since former chief Anthony Mata retired in March.

San Jose’s only restaurant to earn a Michelin star is returning in November. Adega, which served Portuguese cuisine, plans to reopen its doors after closing in December of last year .

Adega, San Jose’s only Michelin-starred restaurant, plans to reopen more than a year after announcing its permanent closure. The owners of the Portuguese restaurant announced Tuesday that Adega is expected to make its triumphant return at its previous location at 1614 Alum Rock Ave.
