In the 1980s and 1990s, tort reform became a talking point for Texas Republicans, who believed that trial lawyers, mad with power (and conveniently, allies of Democrats), were abusing a Texas civil justice system that they saw as too friendly to consumers by bringing too many cases against companies, costing taxpayers in the process.

While the company’s purpose is unknown, it shares its name with a widely debunked conspiracy theory, and follows Trump’s claim that Musk will lead a proposed government efficiency commission.
