While Meta had sought to hire “a lot of people” from OpenAI, none of its best people have accepted the offers. The news comes amid efforts from Mark Zuckerberg to ramp up Meta's AI talent pool. Meta recently hiring Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang as part of a $14 billion deal.

Altman said this shows how deeply OpenAI’s team believes in the company’s mission to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He suggested that money alone isn’t enough to attract top AI minds when they are motivated by purpose and innovation.

According to the OpenAI chief, the loyalty toward OpenAI may have been due to the belief that the startup got a “really good shot,” or a much better shot at delivering super intelligence, eventually making the company more valuable.
