Mark Wahlberg is embracing the new look he adopted for the filming of his newest action thriller Flight Risk, co-starring Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace. The 53-year-old star plays an antagonistic pilot in the Mel Gibson directorial venture, which was released on January 24 and opened at number one at the box office on its debut weekend.
Dockery spoke with ScreenRant to discuss how Flight Risk felt like a play and share anticipation for the upcoming Downton Abbey swan song.
Debuting at $12 million (£9.6 million) at the box office, critics have mixed opinions on Wahlberg’s latest turn, with the movie scoring just 25 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with Times critic Kevin Maher condemning the film’s ‘slapshod cliches’ and ‘outdated’ style. So, at least it was worth it then.
Wahlberg plays a pilot flying a federal agent (Michelle Dockery) and a fugitive (Topher Grace) across Alaska in the thrilling flick. Wahlberg and his wife Durham, who tied the knot in 2009, share four kids: Ella, 20, Michael, 18, Brendan, 15 and Grace, 14, who all found their dad’s new do rather funny.
Mel Gibson’s chamber thriller Flight Risk is thin at 3,000 feet, but Topher Grace makes for good in-flight entertainment.
The Mel Gibson-directed thriller “Flight Risk” opens in theaters Friday. The airplane drama takes thrills to new heights as Mark Wahlberg — who partially shaved his head for the role — stars as a pilot who’s transporting an Air Marshal and her fugitive but reveals his secret agenda mid-flight.
