Kentucky native and Kroger CEO and chairman Rodney McMullen resigned Monday after an investigation into his personal conduct, according to a news release from the Cincinnati-based grocery store giant.

The company said it was made aware of “certain personal conduct” by McMullen on Feb. 21 and immediately obtained independent counsel to launch an investigation.
