Mattel has introduced its first Barbie doll with representing someone with Type 1 diabetes. The doll, part of the Fashionistas line, includes realistic medical accessories like a continuous glucose monitor and an insulin pump — as well as an outfit that pays homage to diabetes awareness.
The first-ever Barbie with Type 1 diabetes comes with an insulin pump and glucose monitor. Both kids and adults with diabetes are celebrating the announcement and say they are grateful for a doll that represents them.
Mattel announced this week the launch of its first-ever Type 1 diabetes Barbie doll, adding a new character to the Barbie Fashionista line.
