Toward making a significant investment, Vedanta on Saturday announced that it will invest over Rs 1 lakh crore in the state of Rajasthan and will go across sectors such as zinc, oil and gas, and renewable energy.

Vedanta has made investments in excess of Rs 1.5 lakh crore in Rajasthan to date. Two of its flagship businesses Hindustan Zinc Ltd, the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer, and Cairn Oil & Gas have their largest operations in the state.

Vedanta plans a massive Rs 1 lakh crore investment in Rajasthan across zinc, oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. The initiative aims to double zinc capacity, boost oil production, and support energy transition.

The funds will be used to set up a 6 million tons per annum alumina refinery and a 3 million tons aluminium plant.

The new investment will be in setting up a 6 million tonne per annum (MTPA) alumina refinery and a 3MTPA green aluminium plant, a statement from Vedanta said.
