Chelsea to sanction Carney Chukwuemeka loan exit as interest builds in Donnell McNeilly - Young duo could form part of a stream of late departures from Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is expected to join German club Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season.The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a £20m deal in 2022.

Given the lack of opportunities afforded to Chukwuemeka, he is now all set for a move to Dortmund, with Ben Jacobs revealing the first part of his medical has been completed. The Athletic claim that Chukwuemeka will join on a six-month loan deal, paying £2m up front, and there is an option-to-buy clause inserted in the contract.

The 20-year-old needs to pass a medical but is expected to make the switch before the transfer deadline. Chukwuemeka is considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge by manager Enzo Maresca and has been encouraged to leave.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the buy option is over £40m, a clause that is currently unrealistic unless Chukwuemeka takes a starring role over the next four months. In two-and-a-half years at Chelsea, the former Aston Villa youngster has accumulated just 746 minutes of football spread across 32 appearances.

Chukwuemeka, 21, has not featured in the Premier League for Chelsea this season and has only started one match in the Conference League.

Carney Chukwuemeka looks set to spend at least the rest of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, though it could turn into a longer stay as well with reports of a buy-option north of £40m also included in the deal.
