Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 was a pleasant surprise. While the studio had been responsible for several fairly well-received horror games since its pivot to the genre with 2016's Layers of Fear, none of them boasted the sophistication of Team Silent's GOAT.

Bloober Team unveiled what it’s been working on at today’s Xbox Partner Showcase event. The studio showed off a cinematic trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn, which is a brand-new IP. The developer describes the game as “a twisted time travel story set in an unforgiving post-apocalyptic future.

After the successful launch of Silent Hill 2, Bloober Team is moving onto its own material, and it looks like the first stop is Cronos: The New Dawn, which is set to release sometime in 2025. This'll be a mature-rated sci-fi survival horror game that'll see players explore a post-apocalyptic land in 1980s Poland.

After finding success with the 'Silent Hill 2' remake, Bloober Team has vowed to only produce horror games from now on because the developers are big fans of the genre.

Bloober Team had somewhat of a mixed reputation as a studio after putting out horror games that ranged from interesting but flawed experiences, to ones that were straight-up memed to death for their odd quirks.

Bloober Team has admitted it knew it had to "evolve" after releasing The Medium, a decision which led to the development of bigger games such as the Silent Hill 2 remake and the upcoming Cronos: The New Dawn.
