The president's rule in Jammu and Kashmir has been revoked, allowing the formation of a government. Elections were held, with the National Conference winning 42 seats and the BJP 29. Omar Abdullah will become Chief Minister.

President's rule was withdrawn in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the union territory. A gazette notification to this effect was issued by the Union Home Ministry.

In 2018, then President Ram Nath Kovind imposed President’s rule in the state after it had completed six months under Governor’s rule.

The oath-taking ceremony for the new government in Jammu and Kashmir is set for October 16 with Omar Abdullah invited to lead by LG Manoj Sinha.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister-designate Omar Abdullah met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on October 11 and requested him to fix the date for the swearing-in ceremony at the earliest.

Abdullah on Monday posted a letter on X sent by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inviting him to take oath on Wednesday.
