The family that has for decades held complete control over everything involving the globe-trotting superspy is relinquishing it to Amazon.

Ever since the most recent "Bond" actor, Daniel Craig, was killed off in 2021's "No Time to Die," the search has been on for a new actor to take up the role of 007. But giving control of "Bond" to one of the biggest companies in the world could have ripple effects throughout the film industry.

Amazon will now control who will play 007, who will write the next script, and when the film goes into production—three critical pieces that had been held up by a yearslong stalemate.
